DemandCenter Campaigns are a scheduled sequence of events enacted upon an audience of Prospects. The audience is defined by lists that are created in the List Builder, associated Forms, and other Campaigns using Add to Campaign Actions.
The overall sequence of events is defined by a course of one or many Flows, each Flow containing one or many Actions. As prospects travel through one Flow at a time, they pass in and out of various Actions in linear fashion, from left to right. Each Action performs a specific operation on the prospect.
To build a campaign:
- Go to Campaigns > New Campaign.
- Within the Start Action configuration window, review and complete the following Campaign settings according to your preferences:
- Name: Provide the name of the Campaign.
- Folder: Click Browse to choose the folder where you would like your Campaign to be stored.
- Type: Choose how Reports should group this campaign.
- Notes: You can provide optional notes to describe your campaign.
Under Effective Dates, specify how long your campaigns should remain active. When a campaign has reached its end date, the campaign stops and does not process.
- Start Immediately: Choose the time when you would like the Campaign to begin running (Campaigns will only begin running if the Campaign Status has previously been set to Ready - see step 18).
- Start on...: The Campaign will start running on a certain date and time after the Campaign's START button has been clicked.
- Run Indefinitely: The Campaign will run forever, until a user manually clicks the End button.
- End on...: The Campaign will end on a certain date and time after the Campaign's START button has been clicked and its status has been set to Ready.
- Start Immediately: Choose the time when you would like the Campaign to begin running (Campaigns will only begin running if the Campaign Status has previously been set to Ready - see step 18).
- Sync Campaign with CRM (CRM integrated accounts only): Check this box if you would like to share this Campaign with your CRM. As 'In CRM' Campaign members interact with the Campaign (i.e. click on eTrigue trackable links within emails sent from the Campaign), they will be reported and associated as Campaign Members within the CRM.
Under Audience, - Test Audience: Click Browse to select the Static list that you would like to use while testing your Campaign Actions.
- Next to Audience, click Browse to choose the List(s) of prospects that you would like to include in this Campaign. When this campaign starts, any prospects that were members of your list(s) will become active members of the campaigns. Distinct prospects that overlap in your lists only proceed through the campaign once.
- After completing all of the above, click OK. You will be taken to the Campaign Builder, where you will see your Campaign, with its status set to Draft.
- Begin by dragging and dropping Campaign Actions to the Primary Flow of your Campaign. Each Campaign Action has a different function; the most common Action is the Email Action, which is used to send emails. To learn more about Actions, click here.
- Double-click to configure the Properties of each Action.
- Add additional Flows, as needed, by clicking on the NEW FLOW button, and then providing a name for your new Flow.
- Use Test Mode to thoroughly test the components of your Campaign:
- Validate Campaign - Clicking this button checks all actions in the Campaign to ensure that the minimum configuration requirements have been completed. If all requirements have been met, you will see a green 'OK' below each valid Action. If further configuration is needed for a particular Action or Actions, you will see red errors below the incomplete Action(s), indicating specific issues.
- Test Action - Left-click to highlight an Action that you would like to test. Next, click the Test Action button. The behavior of the Action will be applied immediately ONLY to the members of the Test Audience. A confirmation dialogue box will open, displaying the effects of the Action upon each Test Audience member. All configuration settings and Option logic will be applied to the Test Audience, so you should check to ensure that the appropriate test prospects received the appropriate behavior, based on prospect record details and tracking history.
- To activate your campaign to a LIVE state, click the START button. The Campaign status will change from Draft to Ready.
- When the Start Date of the Campaign is reached, the status of the Campaign will change from Ready to Started, and the Audience will be released from the Start Action, to progress through the remaining Actions and Flows of the Campaign.
- To pause a Running Campaign, click the PAUSE button. The status of the Campaign will change to Paused. All Actions in the Campaign will stop until the Campaign is resumed.
- To resume a paused Campaign, click the START button. As long as the End Date has not been reached, the Status of the Campaign will change to Ready and then Running. Audience members will resume the Campaign in the same Action that they were in when the Campaign was paused.
- To end a Campaign before the End Date has been reached, click the END button. Campaigns that have been ended cannot be restarted or resumed (but they can be cloned).
