Email Deliverability Previews Powered By Litmus
Ever wonder what your emails are going to look like in prospects' email clients?
What about on their Smart Phones?
Now you can use the industry-leading email testing tool - Litmus - to view compatibility in major desktop, webmail and mobile email clients.
It's easy. And it's available right inside of eTrigue DemandCenter marketing automation.
You must have an account setup with Litmus in order to use this feature. Trial accounts are available from Litmus directly (https://litmus.com).
First we'll look at the simple email testing process, and at the end we'll show you how easy it is to setup.
You can see what your email template will look like when it's delivered to over 40 different email clients and devices.
So how do I run an email visualization test?
Running an email visualization test takes just a few steps. You never have to leave DemandCenter (except for the initial setup with Litmus).
Whenever you are in the "Build E-Mail Template" window. ( Assets: Email Templates > Build E-Mail Template ) you'll see a couple of new buttons: "Run Litmus Test" and "View Litmus Test Results."
(FYI - The "Proofs | Send Proof" section has been moved into this top area as well.)
When you fist click "Run Litmus Test" a pop-up window will appear.
Choose who you want the "Sender" to be - and whose data you want to use to simulate the "Recipient."
(Don't worry, the email won't actually be sent to the recipient, it's just used fill in any Recipient Tags that you have configured in your email template so that the test is realistic.)
Click "Select" on the left side:
This chooses the Litmus Test "Sender" - This "Send From" selection opens a pop-up window: Select Litmus Test Sender"
The next step is to choose the recipient.
"Use Data of This Prospect" - the recipient will be someone from your prospect database.
(i.e. the recipient data that will fill in Recipient Tags in the email template. That way you get an accurate view of what your template looks like with real data in place):
What kind of tests do you want to run?
Choose:
Use my default Litmus email client list
Use a specific list of clients
If you select " Use a specific list of clients" a pop-up window will open with the choices that are available to you.
Make your selections - and press "Run Litmus Test"
Or - if you are using the default email clients testing for your account - press "Run Litmus Test"
After you "Run Litmus Test" you can view the results by clicking on "View Litmus Test Results" right in the Build E-Mail Template window.
What do I see?
After you click on "View Litmus Test Results" the test results for that email template will appear on the screen. You can scroll down to see all results for that email template. You can also click on individual test results to see a larger view.
If you or a colleague have run multiple tests on that email template, the results will appear below - in reverse chronological order below the most recent test results.
That's pretty small?
Clicking on one of the results thumbnail images will cause a larger view of that specific email client test to appear in the window. When you are done, you can click the red "X" or click outside of the image to dismiss the preview.
How do I know if tests have already been run on my email template?
We've added another neat feature that shows you which emails have Litmus test results. The Litmus logo can be found in the far-right position in the file viewer if Litmus tests have been previously conducted. The date and time of the tests are kept along with the visualizations - so make sure to check that you are viewing current test results!
Assets > Explore Email Templates
Just click on the Litmus logo "button" if it appears alongside an email template to view the test results.
