As you use the list builder to construct searches that reveal specific cross sections of your database, you may want to save these searches as dynamic or static lists for quick and easy reference in the future. Saved lists are used when defining Campaign, Test, and Proof audiences.
To save a List:
- Go to Prospects > Prospect Search to construct your search query.
- Your results will display along with a list of your search criteria in the Results pane.
- Once you are satisfied with your list, click Save.
- In the Save List dialog, provide the following information:
a. List Name: Enter a name for your list.
b. Save in Folder: Click on the folder icon to locate and select the folder in which you would like to save your list.
c. List Type: Choose the desired list type:
- Dynamic: A dynamic list retains the exact search criteria that were in place when the list was saved. As prospects are added or updated in your database with attributes that match the search criteria of the dynamic list, these prospects will automatically be associated with the list. The new list members will also automatically be applied to any running campaigns or other features associated with the list. As a result of the dynamic nature of this list type, the total number of prospects in a dynamic list may change over time as prospect data changes in the database.
- Static: A static list retains the exact record IDs that matched your criteria at the time the list was saved. Static lists cannot be changed or updated with the list builder beyond initial creation, but you can use Add to List Actions in your campaigns to add new prospects to selected static lists. To change the original search criteria of a static list, you will need to modify your search and then use the Save As button to create a NEW static list.
