Background
DemandCenter is a browser based application. The application uses your web browser to display the application in the most optimum way it can. Browsers use caching techniques to increase the performance and speed of your pages.
However, browsers are often updated for security and performance reasons. As a result, sometimes you might encounter abnormal behaviors or visual oddities due to new code or web-caching reasons.
What might users experience?
Visual Oddities
- Buttons might be out of place.
- Page layouts look distorted or skewed.
- Graphics are missing.
Abnormal Behaviors
- Assets are loading slower than they normally do.
- Items that should normally pop-out stay in place instead.
- Pressing buttons or clicking on links do not appear to do anything.
Other Causes
Another cause of odd behavior is when your browser's session and cookies have expired. Usually, this occurs when you sit idle on a webpage. When you have idled long enough, you may see a page that references an Unhandled Exception (see screenshot below).
Note: Users working with multiple browsers/tabs should be aware that when any single tab expires, the entire login session expires even if you are actively working in one tab.
How to Resolve Browser Related Issues
In most cases, clearing your browser's cookies and cache data will resolve the temporary issues noted above. The actions above will also help ensure that your browser gets a clean slate and is not caching old or invalid data. To clear the cookies and cache for your browser, refer to the following browser specific instructions.
- Mozilla Firefox: click here
- Microsoft Edge: click here
- Google Chrome: click here
- Apple Safari: click here
Hard Refresh
In some cases, you may need to perform a "hard" refresh.
The command is specific to each browser, but in most cases it is performed by holding down the SHIFT KEY and then pressing the browser's reload button.
For PC users, they can try:
SHIFT + F5
Mac users can do a similar command with:
COMMAND + SHIFT + F5
